This
video is a 10 minute edit of the original 20 minute audiovisual
light projection performance created for the Monumedia Festival
in Naples, Italy. The event took place on October 25, 2009
using a Christie high end video projector.
Red
and Blue is Till Nowaks fifth mapped projection video
installation and the second collaboration of this kind between
Till Nowak and Frank Zerban. Mapped projections
are pieces of art as well as architectural enhancements. They
are made of digital animations which are projected on the
geometry of a building matching the underlying structure,
which means that the shape of the surface is reflected in
the animation.

Nowaks
light installations are based on minimalistic graphical elements
like glowing lines and panels which play with the volumes
and faces of the architecture. Every piece of the animation
is a result of the buildings architecture itself, there are
no previously existing video or photo elements used in the
projection. The goal is to bring the virtual and real world
to a perfect match by creating a seamless, new visual groove.
The
general theme in this installation is a conflict between red
and blue, which transforms between various appearences like
fight, conversation or dance. The website www.edges.framebox.com
provides more images and video samples of Till Nowaks previous
video installations.
